Putah Creek: The “Technical Fishery” is the closest trout stream to the Bay Area. The creek starts in the mountains high above Lake Berryessa before it flows into the Yolo Bypass and finally into the Sacramento/ San Joaquin River Delta. The section of water targeted by fly anglers starts at the base of the Monticello Dam and concludes above Lake Solano. Roughly 4 miles downstream from the dam. This section is accessible along Hwy 128, providing pullouts, parking lots, and restrooms.
